Avelina Amado
2023 Exceptional Service Award Recipient

School Operations Coordinator
May Center School for Brain Injury and Neurobehavioral Disorders
Norwood, Mass.

Avelina Amado is highly proficient in all aspects of her School Operations Coordinator position. She is meticulous, extremely organized, and is always
looking for ways to improve our working conditions and save money on purchases. Avelina is self-directed and able to pivot seamlessly to new processes and systems. She is responsible for most aspects of our busy campus including, but not limited to, addressing maintenance issues, purchasing, accounts payable, student records, and inspections. Her job
is immense, and she consistently responds to high demands with a calm demeanor.

Avelina’s professional skills are second to none. She is a strong communicator who has a positive rapport with everyone she meets. Avelina has grown tremendously over the past year, and she has become a solid manager. Also of note is that Avelina willingly took on additional responsibilities for our Bureau of Nutrition Review. She was a resource not only to our school but to another program and corporate staff.

Avelina is always eager to help the team, meets all deadlines no matter what, and is a true collaborator. There is no task that Avelina will not take on whether it is “behind the scenes” to assist staff with onboarding, event planning, or to jump in to help de-escalate a student in crisis.

Avelina is a joy to work with, a pleasure to supervise, and the Norwood team is fortunate to have her!
